confirm road & track numbers
confirm road & track numbers
in the sept '05 of road & track's road test summary says (pg 133),
911 S coupe (issue 3-05) price as tested $91,560, 355 hp:
0-60 in 3.9, 0-100 in 9.6, 1/4 mile in 12.3 @ 114.8
911 turbo (issue 11-00) price as tested $118,365, 415 hp:
0-60 in 4.0, 0-100 in 9.2, 1/4 mile in 12.4 @115.6
im assuming R&T is talkin bout the '05 997 S vs '01 996 tt
(355hp vs 415hp).
im sorry, but i have no other data to compare to. and of course, im comparing stock vs stock, i know many other 996tt's on this forum are much faster.
i thought the 997 S numbers were 4.6 in the 0-60, seems like this is inaccurate. can anyone can confirm?

I think 4.6 is a Porsche claimed number, and of course that's going to be conservitive.
The best non-X50 Turbo 0-60 time I've seen published is 3.9 sec.
The 997S does pretty well in the 0-60 range because Porsche not only increased the power, but because they also changed the gearing.

I personally don't know of any published 997 C4S numbers...besides those provided by Porsche.
The big difference between the Turbos and the 997S's is TORQUE. I wouldn't just go by magazine 0-60 numbers...there is a big difference in the actual experience the two cars provide.

Hmm fastest ive seen for the 997S was 4.2 by road and track vs a c6 vette, so that 3.9 is news to me.. But in the real world it wont be anywhere near 3.9 and that's with them powershifting and abusing the clutch i read, its very quick but the 996tt would still whoop it badly

The best 997S time I've seen recorded is also 3.9 sec...March issue of Road & Track.

ive driven both cars and the TT feels like its much faster than the 997 S, prob cuz of the 413 lbs of torque vs the 295 you mentioned.
i was just surprised to see those figures to be so close.
