I'm guessing it was a scam, since eBay removed the item. Was it some kind of vortex generator/electric supercharger/piece of plastic junk that goes on the intake? eBay is famous for those and they're not worth the pixels it takes to look at them.

The intake plenum is made by Innovative Pro Design and sold by several different shops, including Speed Gallery. I have one on my car. Here is a photo of the stock intake plenum and the IPD unit:

On the stock intake plenum, the air stream exiting the throttle body is directed to the back end of the stock intake plenum, where it collides with the plastic wall of the plenum, before the air is forced to one of the ends of the plenum. This collision of air against the plenum wall creates turbulence and back pressure.

On IPD’s custom intake plenum, the plenum diverts the air as it flows out of the throttle body, thereby preventing a collision of air against the back end of the plenum. This diversion of the air stream reduces turbulence and back pressure, and increases air flow.

I have no comment or opinion regarding the claimed 30 hp increase, but the theory behind the unit certainly is sound. Here is a brochure regarding their test results:

I would think the larger throttle body is the main reason for the increase in flow/hp. I doubt there is that much air turbulence/pressure through the intake to create a 30 hp drop in power. but hey, when your chasin it every bit adds up.

Again, I am not vouching for the 30 hp claim. However, if you look closely at the dyno included in the brochure, the text states that it was done with a "70 mm" TB (thats the OEM size). Moreover, the brochure includes CFM testing for the intake plenum with both the OEM TB and the 76 MM TB.

I noticed a gain from the larger throttle body but as far as that piece goes, I did install it but I honestly can't tell any difference. I really should have done a before and after dyno.. On second thoughts, I really should have gotten a 6speed too
