Mafless with filters outside of the IC air guides?

Does anyone have this setup with their mafless tune? I know the two most popular options are filters directly on turbos, or filters directly on top of the intercoolers.

Has anyone successfully ran the filters outside of the stock intercooler air guides? Looks like there is plenty of room for filters, just would need to modify the IC brackets.

If you have this setup with stock air guides, do you mind sharing pics/info/etc.

It's really only worth the trouble for highly modified setups. I am in the process of going through this with mine using Protomotive fender intakes. Lots of cutting and then also welding ducting/fenders back on to the intercoolers.

Anyone ever tested what difference it makes to a tuned intake system like markski`s with bigger tubing? The above method does obviously produce less negative prerssure, but does this make big of a difference in spool ? Even at power?
Since i got the GT2 decklid with ram air effect i doubt it will get me any further, cause i will use the markski tubing stuff.

Isnt it too dangerous to run the filter directly where the wheels are? I think about water or even stones and stuff which can penetrate the filterelement and the compressor wheel will be toast.

Same with me. Got caught in a massive downpour last week. No problems at all. I have filter socks on my K&N filters and they look perfect too.
