A little info about the SL600

I have seen several posts in the forum about 911 vs Mercedes SL. I have both. I wanted to give the 996TT guys a little insight on the SL. I have an SL600 RENNTech with 675hp and 910lb/ft, both at the flywheel...

Decided to play hookey today and run out to the track for a little test and tune. After making a few runs and playing with the tire pressures I ripped off this run (my all time best in the SL):

Here are the Atmospheric conditions and corrected times:

I have RENNTech ECU, Trans module and I'm running 17" 275 Mickey Thompson ET/Drag radials on stock SL500 wheels.

thats a very impressive time...how are u hooking so well? et streets? et drags? drag radials???

Your 1/4 trap is very impressive compared to the 1/8 trap...picking up 29mph is no joke...the car must be a monster on the highway.

When is the CGT going to the dragstrip? I'd like to see some 10's @ over 130 (uncorrected)...think it's possible?

Do you have exhaust and the Renntech air box. If not, try them they make a difference. I had them on my CL 600 with the ECU and Trans mods and I was running 11.7's in cali on 275 PS2's

Nice run!

Maybe the weights help this thing hook up better than 996TT.

Yea seriously! I was in a renntech'd SL65 and the thing spun very minimal and had gut wrenching pull and tunnel vision, the thing is just insanely fast! Cant wait to run him though

BTW congrats on the run, did you get it on video?

I know what they are...I was just wondering if that's what you have on. They're about the stickiest drag radial you can buy.
