I have done and continue to do research with this as I am not satified with my radio/head unit. It seems that sound quality wise, the eclipse upper end units are the best. Not the top unit which is the 7000. The 5000 is better. I spoke to the tech guys at eclipse 3 times. The screen and the bling are better on the top units but they sacrifice sound quality. It seems everyone wants the cool look and sound is second. The eclipse tech guy even admitted his units from last year are better and that the company is slipping. Alpine and clarion and pioneer are not even close. Infact Reus says(over 30 years experience) that the bose/becker head is as good sounding as the alpine stuff. I listened to the same system I had with the bose head unit and it sounded no where as good as good as mine. The issue I have is that I listen to my nano all the time and almost never to CDs. I want the ease of use of the mp3 with touch screen jacked into the eclipse aux for the best sound. So today I bought a garmin nuvi wih the mp3 player. This in theory should sound the best. Even the top of the line eclipse double din head does not sound as good as the cd 8445 I have. They have cut back on the quality components for features. Also Nakamichi and Mcintosh are suppose to sound great(I have not heard them), but they are plain units with no touch screen and no ipod integration(except through the aux input)
