Driver side coolant hose

The main engine coolant hose on the driver's side doesn't want to stay seated. It's a brand new hose, the updated part no., and a new spring clip. I replaced it as a matter of preventative maintenance and now it doesn't seat right. It holds pressure, but I know its not quite right. It looks like it can pop out at any time. It passes the "tug test". I already returned one brand new one to pelican and exchanged it because it wouldn't hold pressure and I could easily dislodge it by hand. This second one is almost as bad... the housing on the engine side is fine. I'm not sure what the problem is... anyone else have this issue, or better, a soultion?

Try reusing your old spring clip. It's been known that the clips vary in size, and is probably the culprit

I did that too. I've now tried every combination of two hoses and four clips -new and old. I've flipped the clips around, adjusted the bends to try to optimize, etc... anything else?

Here's a pic for further clarification

Looking at the picture , it is definitively not in lock position. I remember with a new hose, I had to push really hard on it to finally hear the "click" of the spring clip falling into locking position. I also lubricate the seals with pure coolant....

I did those things too. I seated It firmly and gave it the tug test I was talking about and was able to jiggle it half way out, as a shown, but it won't come all the way out, and then I snapped it back in. It was definitely fully seated. Since then, I put everything back together and it has worked itself loose as shown. It's holding pressure and it won't come out... I can snap it back in, but it will just come loose again.

I guess I'll pull it all back out and get my micrometer out and bend the clip pefectly... it really shouldn't take this much effort tho... I was hoping for another solution. I've used my old clips and two new ones all with the same results. Lame!!

s65e90 is infamous around these parts
New thermostat housing too? New o-rings?

If you've exhausted everything put a small screwdriver inside those little tabs on the hose side and push them out a tiny bit and it should give it more to clamp on to. If all is new stuff I can't imagine why it wouldn't just seat right. You're def pushing it till you feel it click?

I did not change the thermostat housing. Has that part been updated too? I could see that being the problem.

I'd rather just buy the old part number hose!

There is not much difference between the clips of different part number. But I know if you don't put the right one in the right place, it won't hold. The one you need at this location is 99610680211, and look how close the 10 and 12 are from 11!!!! I had that problem after engine removal for pipes welding and I was not able to pressurized the coolant system with air without having one pipes popping out!!! I bought new clips and position them properly, no more problems....I got new 99610680211 in my stock, I can take some measurement if you want...... the 99610680210 goes on the right side and the 99610680211 on the left side, you cannot mix them up.....

It is extremely easy to flatten the little tabs that stick out and that the clips lock into. It is as simple as rotating the hose a little while inserting - those tabs aren't strong enough to stay pressed out. The screwdriver idea should work like a charm.

EDIT: Also... put the clips on after inserting. Even the clips are strong enough to bend those tabs back in a little.

I am using the 11s. They should be working. I expected no problems for Porsche genuine parts... genuine hose, genuine clips...

You know... I wondered about that too. The first hose had red stamping and the second has white. Both came in bags claiming to be genuine from my favorite parts website. I'm starting to have some doubts about authenticity. At this point I don't feel great about the hose or the clips. I know what I paid for, but I'm not so sure about what I received. This whole situation stinks.
