Would you spend the same money for a used RTurbo instead of a used GT2?
I think it depends on what you want. The Ruf is a great car and will do everything you ask, be quick and be enjoyable to drive. The GT2 will be exciting and get you heart racing everytime you drive it. No safety net will do that.
I had a Ruf RTurbo (converted not vin) and now I have a GT2. I use(d)
both for weekend fun. I kept the Ruf after I purchased the GT2 for about 3 months, but found when I went to pick a car to drive I ended up in the GT2 everytime. The Ruf had a better ride, was just as fast and had a great stereo. The GT2 had great steering and exciting handling and demanded much more respect.
In the end the GT2 held much more interest to me. I think a GT2 with Ruf 550 package is about all you need! So I would take the GT2 and convert it to Ruf spec when you can.
Good luck, both are great cars!

GT2s are definitely a driver's car. I really have to question the lack of PSM in such a high HP RWD car (especially for the 911s rear weight bias) for street use.
Someone told me 25% of all GT2s have been crashed?

The statistic you quoted is an urban legend. No one has ever provided actual proof of the number of GT2s crashed.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. Thank you.
Did you have your car send to Dallas or Germany for the conversion?
I have driven both-
for pure performance, Ruf would be quicker (more boost)
for pure VALUE it has to be a GT2-rare factory car'
IF you look into history on resales you will see that factory cars have a solid edge on ruf counterparts-Mark
BTW-I'm looking for the low mile GT2-any help out there?

Thanks for the replies guys.

Mine was the black widebody....Vorsicht on AW.
I don't think I'll ever get rid of my Sportec S4. Way too much $ and time put into that car.
But it makes me wonder about Sportec tuning. My S4 comes on so fluidly all the way up to redline. Feels similiar to my AMG V8K cars...Does anyone ever modify a RUF car to get more power?

I actually got my Zender spoiler after I saw a pic of your car on AW. It was a rear 3/4 shot when you had Ronal R something wheels. Sportec is an amazing tuner, they really did a great job on a few S4's. How is it running? With all the time and effort you put into it, I wouldn't get rid of it either.
Best of luck with it and your future GT2/Rturbo...................

If you get tired of your 550, you can get a 590(nardo) and 650. Those need the engine to be sent to RUF in Germany though.
Vince,
My car was done in 2002 and Dallas was not open at that time. My car was not a Ruf vin. Ruf sent two great young mechanics from Germany to California. The shipped the parts to the shop a few weeks before they arrived. They showed up and had the motor out the first day and the car completed in 3 days. Paint work on from and rear spoiler were completed before they arrived.
The simply showed up went to work, were very professional and very good. One was 20 the other was 24. Both had worked at Ruf for 6 years! The shop tried to hire them and said if they wanted to come to the USA, they had a job.
