lightweight battery question

Just wanting to know if anyone ever put an optima D51 Battery in a 911.
This battery wieghs in at 26 lbs...can easily save 25lbs over stock
http://www.optimabatteries.com/publi...cal_specs.html
check the specs out for the d51.

I have the optima d51 left over form my now sold bmw m3. worked perfectly fine + i even had an aftermarket sound system as well. Saved 25-30lbs over stock bmw battery. In terms of fitment, its not an "official battery that fits" the m3, nor the porsche (according to the optima site). However, it was not a problem whatsoever fitting it into the m3 and securing it.

My question is, considering the specs (500 CCA, 625 cranking amps, 70 reserve capacity, 41 capacity (c/20), internal resistance .0046 ) will i run into any power drawing problems. Does the porsche require/draw alot of power, maybe more than the m3. I tried reading the specs off the oem bat but with no success.
Keep in mind, for the m3, the oem battery (wieghing at around 50-55 lbs-similar to oem porsche) had a rating of at least 100-150 more cold cranking amps. Despite this, and despite the addition of 2 JL audio amps, i never experienced any serious power problems in the M3.

- Also, i drive my car daily so it will not just sit in a garage loosing charge...

As of now im not even looking to add an aftermarket system to the porsche, so does anyone know if this is a worthwhile upgrade for a few lbs of savings...
Powerwise should it be fine?
Will i have a fitment problem. I can always add a few inches to the battery in order to raise it, by being a little creative, but anything else to look out for?

Thanks
mike

So......no way the Odessey will fit up where OEM was?
And I see no spare now.........so how did you make use of the rest of the trunk?......a cover?

I believe Sharwerks makes a kit to mount an Odessey in the original location.

My car did not come with a spare and who needs a trunk in a GT2?

grussel...is thier a specific reason you would suggest the oddysey rather than the optima. In terms of fitment, i believe the optima is smaller, so it should fit.
Is thier a performance difference. Reason i ask is becuase i have the optima already and prefer to use it.

Not really. I had the Optima 34R and it was heavy so I went to the Odessey 925 which is 22lbs. I have never had any problems with Optimas.

I do still use the trunk........tough to put stuff behind seat with roll cage.......I use GT2 front liner, no spare.
I'll check with Sharkwerks.........thanks for the tip.
