I suppose the big question is...Is this car an investment that you want to make money on? (good luck...very few cars do this) or is it a car that you bought as a trophey...to show others how impotent (correct spelling) you are? Or did you buy the car because it is one of the greatest sports cars ever? and you should DRIVE IT!!!

My thoughts on milage are if you take the miles the day you sell the car and subtract them from the miles the day you bought the car. The bigger the number the more fun you had!

Huh??

I think you have it backwards. You need to subtract the mileage on the car the day you bought it from the mileage when it was sold to get the correct "smile quotient"

I can't seem to put enough miles on mine... only 24k... that's why I try to drive it everyday unless I need the room for errands

Cost per mile analysis

Think of it in terms of Cost per mile. If you're taking a 10k depreciation every year along with operating and maintainence costs.

If you drive the heck out of it, it becomes cheaper to operate on a cost per mile. If you drive 1kmiles a year, you're spending $10 to $11 mile.

I guess I'll be the high miles Ho before too long. I drive Arabelle 500 miles a week. Nearly 10,000 since I bought her in August. I used to have the crappy daily driver - weekend car thing going (with a Corvette). Then due to some unemployment I sold the BMW, had to drive the Corvette every day.......I then realized what I was missing. So this time I wanted the best F'n daily driver on the planet.....

The funny part is that both cars are worth mid to high 70's so guess who had more fun

I Have an '03 TT and drive it everyday rain or shine . I've put 15,000 on it in less than a year. That's what its built for. I'm going to drive it until it dies, then buy another one! It has 25K miles on it now, I figure its good for another 175K. Should last a couple more years!! 998 may be the next one? Have fun and forget about the miles.

I agree with the drive it theory, except if you have to drive in traffic for long commutes. That's just wasted mileage as far as I am concerned. To some extent these cars are no more fun than a civic if all you are doing is stop and go traffic.

I have a 15 mile round trip to work, I consider that "my time" and I enjoy it everyday.

Stop and go traffic is soooo frustrating in this car, it's built to be driven FAST. That would be the ONLY reason I don't drive it everyday... I don't care s**t about mileage.

No, whether driving 5 mph or 100 mph you still have one of the best cars in the world. Driving Arabelle in traffic jams still puts a smile on my face

03 X50 Coupe with 82,000+ miles on it, it carries me, the kids, tires, groceries, LP tanks refills, Superlogs, you name it - plus it is driven all winter on dedicated snows......too much fun to leave in the garage every day and way to easy to drive in any weather conditions......enjoy the experience......

It now has 9800 miles on it and I have seen on here that 12,000 is the magic number as far as value goes.
My commute to work is about 30 miles each way so I am putting close to 100 miles on it every time I take it out. Of course since I am watching the miles, they seem like they are adding up that much more. I do plan on keeping it for awhile and driving it a few times a week with the exception of winter and bad weather.
Does anyone else think about it or what?
I guess I am just being a ***** about it and should enjoy it damn thing.................
Just drive the damn thing... it's rock solid and meant for driving. I certainly dont classify the 996TT to be an exotic...but that's me.

I dont understand people who buy cars to just sit in the garage cuz they worry about resell value. If you cant enjoy it to the fullest (when you really want to) then it's not worth it and a waste of $$$ IMO.

Now go out and get some snows on that bad boy and drive it!!!! JK...
