Refueling not filling completely?

Well I've had my 2003 996TT for about 1.5 months. I have noticed that everytime I refuel, the gas pump will stop when I have only filled up to 3/4 of a tank. I try to start the pump again but shortly after it stops again. I had the same thing happen on me once in a while on my 2002 996, but this is happening consistantly on my turbo. Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks,
Kunal

There have been some cases where the sender gets hung up inside the tank on the lines. You could remove the covers and see if the arrows are lined up on the sender. If they are then you may want to run down to less than a 1/4 of the tank, pull the battery and then go fill up.

When you pull the battery it will tell you that you have "0" miles and need to fill up. When you fill back up then it should show full. If it doesn't see how many gallons it took and confirm that the gauge is bad or that the car is not taking the full amount.

If it not taking the full amount then the valve in the tank system is shutting off sooner than it should. You will need to take it to the dealer at that point.

Stephen, well the thing is if I keep filling the gauge will go up. So the other day I added another 3-4 gallons (even though it shutoff a few times) and the gauge went up to show closer to a full tank.

Chuck, funny enough I always go to Chevron gas stations (for some reason people have recommended it so I just stick to it, probably no real difference). I thought it might be due to that one Chevron station, so I went to another and that one did it as well.

Guess I will try another gas station for one tank and see if that makes a difference. If not I will take it in to the dealership and see what they have to say. Thanks everyone for the input (if you have anymore I will appreciate it).
