I just think it would be really nice to have that .. I mean would be a good way to kill time and get to know each other better

IMO a chat room will take away from the message board forums, there is always PM to talk to other people, not as fast but its good, just my .02

Agreed.. Chats boards also loose a lot of content that would be valuable within the messaging system for archiving purposes.
