Is there a better way of replacing the EVOMS air filter without removing the entire kit (filter, air box, tubing, etc.)? It's all snugged in and no room to move around the filter. I'm replacing the existing filter with the cotton filter.

I don't know of any way except by taking the whole box out.

 

Hey bud... you really do have to pull the box out to do it Otherwise it'll look more like a scrolled up bit of paper when you're done...

 

why didn't they design it with a larger intake hole?

 

The profile of the box around the venturi does not have enough room to allow the neck to simply slip out. If you tried to make is bigger to pull up you would go right through the top of it. The short of it, no room.

One could do that but the design and pick up in HP comes from the venturi. You can't create a venturi the same size as the original inlet. It would then neck down smaller than the original pipe defeating the purpose.

 

I got mine in without taking the box out. It wasn't pretty, but it went in.
