The 360 CS was made for the U.S. in 2004, approx 353 were imported to the U.S., was approx $200k give or take new, current market approx $200k give or take depending on area, color, options, mileage, etc...

Now, thats my kind of depreciation ! Thats probably the only thing that puts me off the CGT a bit....the probability of a huge hit in depreciation is there. I suspect CGT's will hit 250k in 2 yrs. Now, to some ballers in here, that may not be a big deal, but I'd like to be somewhat thoughtful about this.

On the flipside, the desire to have a CGT from new is also strong. This is what I have discovered. Current new CGT's with <30 miles can be had for 383k. '05 CGTs with 1,000 miles, 350-370k. 04's with miles, 330k or less...I think a carefully inspected, low mile CGT in 2 yrs would be the best buy and bang for the buck.

I like visceral cars...the Stradale, CGT and F40 all fall in this category. I think the Stradale will hold up well in value for a very long time (regardless of whether a F430CS comes to light).

Right now, I think a Stradale now and a CGT later is the way to go.

Ferrari is already having issue about F430's coming into the country after Sept 06 (due to a paasenger airbag issue). There is no word yet about a 430CS either.

The 360CS has depreciated slightly but I think it will hold at around $170K for a while. I've seen a few get sold for around mid 180's.

The CGTs just arent moving, I know of plenty NEW on the floor still for sale. There is more downside in value on the CGT, I think buyers have time on their side. Good luck with your search for a 360 CS, if you need anything let me know.

well, you also need to think, what kind of hit will the 360CS take once the 430CS is out?

Hmm interesting also, didnt even think about that..

Anyway Ruf, i think you are being really smart with your money on this and have your gameplan all setup already. CGT's are depreciating and 360cs's are going strong, go for the 360 and then cgt later like you said

I love my Stradale so much I was willing to change my name (shankgt2 to shankcs) - that says a lot.

It is raw, much better sounding than the F430 though not as fast. The car is super tight, and is the best handling of all my cars. I was going to keep it and add some black/polished wheels and the stripe but Need space for the Roadster which is on the boat already. I would keep that over the gallardo, but I'd be taking a bath with the G.

The 430CS wont come out. The CS is just the designation used for final run. In the 348 Series it was the Speciale in the 355 it was Fiorano in 360 it was challenge stradale. And if the 430 survives past the epa problems there will be something else.

CS was not the final run. They were still making 360 coupe's and spyders until the production line switched over to the 430. It's like a GT3 to the carrera, a racing version made for the streets but a totally seperate model.

I have a CS. I just drove it a few hundred miles this weekend. It's a great car and very fast. I call it the "baby Enzo" since it borrows many parts from the Enzo and, from what I've heard, it's more fun to drive on the street than the Enzo. It's very raw and has all the latest Ferrari technology. I think you'll find its response (steering, braking, shifting) noticeably faster than your F40, with acceleration that's pretty close.

From the Top Gear testing, only the supercars are faster, and then not by much:

Everything associated with it is just pleasure. Exhaust note, handling,how it looks and everything else.

Granted I have never driven this but I'm sure that the things that I've said still applies... LOL

If you have good roads, the CS is a joy to drive. If you don't, you will hear lots of disheartening scrapes in addition to the glorious exhaust note. That said, it's the most fun car I've driven short of a purpose built open wheel race car. Great seat. Great steering feel. Very communicative chassis. The adjustable suspension really works great ( it makes it livable on the highway). Great brakes. It isn't as fast objectively as a modded turbo, but it gets all of the subjective stuff that makes driving a car fun exactly right.
