What tires should I run on a gt 700?
Went to Engishtown Raceway Park yesterday and had major traction problems. The car has no traction through 3rd gear and as soon as it comes on boost it roasts them in any of the first 3 gears.11.30@134 was the best pass with short times in the 2.0sec. In addition the car runs out of gear in 4th about 60 ft before the traps. I tried all types of launch techniques from rolling it out off idle to 2500 rpm launches.I am running Continental Sport 245x30 19's in front and 315 x25 19's In rear. Was thinking of changing to my stock turbo wheels and running drag radials at all corners.Do you guys think this will help even though no burnout to heat them up because of awd? Also the track officials tossed me after that pass for no roll bar.Anyone got a Tequipment club sport bar for sale? Thanks in advance.
Great kit and worth the money over the 640 gt kit. Can feel the difference between the two.Car is violent fast and a ball to drive.I'm hooked and once i get the car in the tens I'm sending it to Todd to do the motor and up it to the gt800/900.
134 sounds like a strong trap speed. you have some good power under there. a 2.0 60-foot doesn't normally correspond with that degree of acceleration indicated by the trap speed, so a good launch will drop your et's considerably i think. perhaps road race tires, like Advan AD07's, Toyo RA-1's, Michelin Pilot Sport Cups, or Pirelli Corsas?
If you are just looking to post a time in the 10's to say you did it, disconnect the front drive shaft and run the drag strip in rear wheel drive. That should allow you to launch and get a good 60 foot time and easily put you in the 10's.
