Hello, just picked up a 2002 turbo and I have a full set of 5558 turbos to put on the car.
question is what is a great tune to use, so many options and are the Cobb worth the money?
specially the stage 2 stage which is around 6k worth it?
Any thought would be appreciated!

I can only speak to my experience. I've worked with both Sam @ ByDesign and the team @ BBI. Both use the Cobb platform (which is awesome) and both exceeded my expectations in every sense of the word. The Cobb OTS maps are garbage, do yourself a favor and reach out to either party for an amazing custom tune.
Cobb is a tuning device, Sam does custom tunes loaded to your car via the Cobb programmer. The other popular remote tuners are Markski at markskituning.com and Todd K at protomotive. Not sure who Aim uses for their tunes if you live in the north east.
I used Marek from Markski Tuning also. My car came with another tune that was garbage. We took it back to stock and started over. It is a world of difference better. Marek never tried to upsell me on anything I didn't need. Just a great guy who knows 996tt.
AIM Performance tuned my 996 to 700 hp on pump gas using Mygenius. I believe Emre (@tuningbae) did the tune. Spoke with Joseph Santos (owner of AIM) when the car was shipped to me and he sent me a new map for the lower octane fuel here in AK. Great support, amazing tune. I haven't had any issues. AIM takes the Porsche platform and elevates it to another level. Check out the video below. . .ever seen a Porsche try to fly to the moon?
