Has anyone used an engine dyno to have their motor tuned?

 

I believe Todd at Protomotive used an engine dyno to tune Alex D.'s car?

Yes, Promotive has an engine dyno. I understand it was used with Alex's car. Actually, this is the only usage of one for a 6speed members car that I am aware of. Many tuners have a engine dyno but either don't have the wiring harness or the ability to tuner the ECU.

 

I believe Guy's RGT2 with Nardo engine was also measured on an engine dyno at Ruf.

 

I have my own understanding as to the benefits of using an engine dyno to determine optimum turbo sizing together with tuning of the motor. Anyone care to add their own?

 

I dont think too many tuners here in the US use engine dynos.
I recall a recent thread on the pros and cons of both tunning approaches...
but I do know that some porsche race car teams prefer engine dynos.
Im not a expert nor a engineer.... so Im gonna be quite on this one.

Are you trying to get me to pass that Minardi F1 race car that you were reeling in on the straight the other day?

 

There are many variables, but simply put, rollers would give you a closer street simulation, due to intercooler, IC routing, and load. Unless you can duplicate the exact config of your whole setup on an engine dyno stick with the rollers.

I am having that video edited....I am trying to give you the best possible input that I can. I believe that KA will become the monster with the correct turbo combination!! I am also that you took the advise and are having Protomotive write the ECU program for KA....A monster she will be...a monster she will be....

What should you be putting out with these turbos?

 

Horsepower 400 - 600 per turbo
Displacement 2.0L - 4.5L
