msindi:

I hate wheel locks, haha. Always can never find them when you are trying to take the wheels of a customer's car.

Evan:

Another note to follow besides removing with a rachet and not the torque wrench (good tip btw) is to always torque the wheels using the 5 star pattern. Never go in a circle following one lug to the next. Always move across the hub to the lug directly across from the one you had just tightened. This helps to evenly tighten down the wheel and will not "warp" your rotors from tightening on side down before tightening down the other.

I do a lot of wheel swapping on my Mustang, and I have
a DeWalt 12 volt cordless impact wrench 1/2" driver, with
a deep 3/4" socket for loosening and removing lugs, and
for tightening to just over finger-tight. This saves a lot of time.
The impact wrench can only make about 100 ft-lbs max
torque, so it's just enough to remove lugs, and I don't let it
run enough to tighten them much. Then I use the torque
wrench for exactly what it's made for, just tightening to the click.
I do the same, with the difference that I bought the cordless impact wrench that Harbor Freight sells--around $100 in store, $150 online. It has 130 ft. lbs max and will easily remove the lug bolts and quite easy to control when snugging them up, and finishing the job with a torque wrench set to 96 ft. lbs.

DeWalt's better, but all the prices I've seen were quite a bit higher. But either way, the cordless impacts are very nice, if you do a lot of wheel swapping.

yup, it is generally not recommnded to use impact wrenches to loosen nuts but if u dont remove rims often it's a fu#kin bear to loosen em w/ a breaker bar

one more thing - if you used HRE's lugs, they have a 17mm head, not 19....obviously if you used the stock lugs then 19mm is the ticket...

They don't make ballseat lugs which is what our stock cars come with...this came as a surprise to me and is why I had to have the ghetto lugs on my car for a bit...HRE "forgot" to tell me this .
Thanks Peter, I have ballseat (chrome) lugs, so they should be the same as stock...

thats why we recommend all of our customers use HRE's lugs...the 17mm head is a lot easier to remove than a 19mm...

the wheels can be cut for either ball (stock lugs) or conical seat (HRE lugs) - we always ask the customer first, but most people go for the conical seat and HRE 17mm lugs after we tell them about it

Man...Mike told me the exact opposite...he said to stick with the ball as that is factory, dealership won't hassle you, and thats what most people do . If I could do it over I would prob do Conical...maybe I will do it over again ....still working on it Peter, I will email you later

Really?? I was gonna get bling bolts and locks too but factory size from Ralph Booth...
I am confused now, should I do HRE bolts or stock on my 841s?? Is there an extra charge for hardware form HRE?? If so how much (16 bolts and 4 wheel locks in chrome!!)

HRE does not charge for the lug bolts, but the lock set is optional.

I think I like the OEM more cause although the heads on these are smaller the body still fills up the whole 'bolt well' if you like...
