My Porsche Notebook... am I crazy?

Okay... when I first bought my Porsche someone recommended that I take all my purchase/order documentation and put it in a notebook... so I went to Wallyworld and purchased a cloth covered binder/organizer and put all the purchase and order paperwork in it.

Then I added every receipt from Porsche for all the add-ins that I purchased.

And then my aftermarket receipts and adds for my aftermarket items such as Fabspeed exhaust, etc.

And then... I added every stitch of new brochures that I could find from 2003 (raided the dealership and took every piece of paperwork that I could find)...

and added my Panorama magazines from 2003...

and added every piece of correspondance I've ever received from Porsche...

Well... you get it.

My notebook is now 5" thick... <grin>

If I ever sell this car, the paperwork will weigh more than the car.
<grin>

Am I SICK or what???

Keep it all. If you keep the car for the long term you will be glad you did. I still have brochures from when my old man got his 911SC Targa back in 1982.

I use the 'manual holder' under the steering wheel for a
zip-up journal. I record the mileage and date and quantity
of every fill up or oil top-off or oil check or warning light.
I have every single receipt for every ounce of gas thats
passed through the car in that journal. I have a separate
binder for service/parts receipts etc.

Three Ring Binder

I keep a three ring binder with photo's and a running log of work done to the car with invoices and mileage and dollars attached. This has helped quite a bit in the past. It's a great record of what you've done and when you did it. Also, a potential buyer will really appreciate the record keeping and it will back up all of your blather about the car. When I sold my '95 it really made a difference to the gentleman that bought it.

I also have a section that contains print-outs of emails that contain information I want to keep on procedures and potential vendors. Many thanks to people like Porsche PhD for their "How-To" articles.
