996 TT suspension upgrade..need help!
My experience is that the spring set you pick is just as important if not more so than the shocks. Use dependent of course. I first upgraded to PSS9's and found them too lightly sprung for the track. Bilstein doesn't offer various spring sets unless you go custom made. I upgraded to Moton with stiffer springs....what a transformation!
Great coilover, but JIC Japan and JIC USA do not do business, so getting JIC Cross for 996TT will not happen. JIC USA should be redeveloping US built coilover to release by the summer. I had them on almost every Project Car Here, but now switching my 997TT to KW V3. Nothing can beat that system for the price.
I was never a JIC fan, for a couple of reasons... But I have to ask, why is a 4 year old thread being dug up??
KWs are a solid bet for performance, but quality is an issue... Just beware there are a BUNCH of folks out there blowing seals on them. The standard turn-around on them is 3-4 weeks...
Larry is right, concerning spring rates... You really need to chat with the shock maker about your intended use and follow their guidelines on minimum strut compression and ideal spring rate range for proper valve adjustment. If you use the wrong spring with the wrong valving, you can twist those ***** all you want, but won't feel a thing.
This is where customer support/ service comes in... And I don't care what vendor chimes in, you guys should be doing your own INDEPEDENT research... Just because someone says "It's great, buy it", doesn't mean you've done your homework...

Mike, why don't you like JIC? I'd like to know.
Rob, I've had JIC, and they are great intro track coil-overs. I sold mine, but am about to get another set from John until the 3-ways come out. They can be bumpy on the roads on their stiff settings, but even on full soft they are much more precise than stock. On the track, they are GREAT on smooth tracks. Need some work on bumpy ones though which will be addressed in the new shock. I have not driven on KW V3 but from all of the opinions of them, they are very similar to the JIC.
Dan Had no idea Japan and USA JIC were no longer affiliated, but I do have a set coming from Jon and am towards the top of the list for the new 3-ways when they come out.

Dez, My issue is more with those who touted it as the next best thing if you couldn't get Motons... They're marginally better than other $2000-3000 coilovers. Customer service was spotty for a long time, and I wonder how Koni entering the 996TT market will impact other brands sales, considering the change in buyers of the 996TT.
I just never thought they were a JRZ!

I don't think anyone (except for Jon,lol) compared them to a JRZ or Moton. But I do think they are the next best thing to a Moton CS or JRZ RS. But there is nothing IMO to differentiate them with the V3's. I don't think many if anyone has driven both and they seem to get similar reviews.
I really liked my JIC, their limits were obvious, the camber plates may actually be the best ones available for our cars and if you adjust them, they can be street friendly and very fast on smoother tracks.
The only other option we've had in the price range was the PSS9 of which not many people have had favorable reviews of them on the track between the softness and bump stop issue, which I think you've been the only one to find a way around.
I like that Koni has gotten into the mix as well, I also like that JIC is getting into the 2 and 3 way market. It could set a new precedence. Guy are paying 8k for complete Clubsport Setups which is rape.
All in all everyone will have their tastes and there are enough people getting some decent results from the JIC to give them consideration.

For pure street applications, would the PSS10's be the best bet and still not jar your fillings loose?
PSS10 for street 100%
KW are really really good. You should look into the research and development they do for their kits. Our guys went to the KW factory in Germany, pretty impressive.
Heavy - yeah that is probably on the hush hush. But Japan kept prices going up and up. 996TT coilovers were retailing for $3500. Their JDM car products were way out of control. Subaru STI exhausts for $1500, market only bears $700. Jon is a GREAT guy and knows his suspension and Porsche cars. Looking forward to the new product.

I just put PSS10s on my car and they are definitely not too harsh. I have them paired with GMG sways front and rear set on medium. When I picked up the car the PSS10s were set at approx 5 front and 4 rear. I found this too soft. I upped them to 9 front and 8 rear and find this gives me the stiffness and increased control I was looking for. Next weekend I may try 10 & 9 just to see how stiff they can be, but honestly, on country roads with some tar patches, 9 & 8 is not that bad.

Thanks guys for some excellent feed back! I am looking at some JIC Cross that are used but I have both sides of the stories on them. I was wondering what you guys think about pricing for used JICs?
Once again thanks
Robert
Once again thanks

I have had JIC's on my car for a year and 15k miles. No issues. None. For me, fine on track.
I have a full agency power suspension too...H&R sways, links, control arms. Bingo.
