Procedure for dyno
Procedure for dyno
Tuners and people with experience with dynoing the 996tt please chime in here. What is the best procedure to dynoing my car? Where should the fans be located? Should the car temp be warm? Should a pull be done and then shut the car down to cool down? Anything else?
Thanks

From what I have seen having that orange fan rite up against the outlet of the IC's and forcing air backwards across them is the most important thing.
Having the geartrain fluids hot will help. Make sure your oil is at operating temp before doing a pull.

why would you not want to leave the trunk open? you have to let the heat escape since you're in such a closed environment.
i've run mine numerous times. try to get some fans up front too to get some air across your radiators.
the intercoolers have already been discuessed.
finally at least one scroll fan blowing the on motor too. bottom line is that you can't get enough air flowing around your car while in the shop on the dyno.

yes, try and get around ten minutes between runs with the car off and the fans blowing on the car. let it idle for a minute or so before you shut it off after the dyno run.
your dyno operator should know how to do this though.....

Wow, there is no air movement going on there. What we do is pull the bumper and place the two fans in the ducts. The car is run from 2K to redline in 4th gear. We have two fans in the radiators and another center fan that moves about 60mph air over the nose of the car. The AC doesn't matter since it switches off during WOT. Cool down is idle for 3-5 minutes. We also leave the deck open and run another fan over the top of the engine bay.
