IPod Icelink works great

I just installed a icelink in my 02 with Bose. Sounds great. The guy took 10 minutes to put it in. The plug is in the glovebox so you can't even see it or any wires. I am still playing with the radio to figure out how to move from 1 album to another but the sound quality is awsome and its CLEAN....no more CD's.
If anyone is interested in a group buy let me know and I'll get some prices. It's not cheap though....

Hmmm not sure if you can see the titles. I'll check tonite. Basically you plug it in just as you would to load a song set the radio to Aux(not sure if thats the name but its after the CD) and the songs play. As I said I need to figure out how to switch from 1 album to another but last nite I had it playing some Nirvana and it went right thru the album.
I am out of town this weekend(Vegas baby)but will do some investigation on how it works. Keep in mind I'm not sure about 01 because it had a different radio.
Listen this thing is great, no more fooling with CD's. Great sound and a really clean setup...

What is it? Who makes it? Any idea if it works with the stock 997 head unit, which is integrated into the display? If so, I'm definitely in. - Russ

yes I'm sure you can switch tracks. Just not sure yet how to do it.
Also not sure if it will work on anything but 02 to 05 996. Of course they have a different model for other cars and radio setups...

last i read, all it would do was hook into the radio, but that there were no controls for the ipod via the radio. that may have changed. i'm curious to hear how it actually works.

We plan to carry the unit, but it has not yet been released for the MOST bus systems in most late model Porsches. They expect release in less than four weeks. Group buy possible, just email me anytime to get listed.

You know, I went and looked at it again; as well as downloaded the directions. I still don't really understand the point of this product. It appears that you can only access predetermined playlists (6 of them) through the IceL setup. And even then, it does not appear to display anything on the factory radio itself, which means you have to mount the Ipod next to the radio.

So if you can't hide the Ipod and you have to mount it next to the radio, what's the point? The IceL does charge the Ipod, but my Ipod battery lasts like 10 hours. I think it would be cheaper and more functional to do what I did... the $20 becker aux adapter. Till you can bury the Ipod away in your glovebox like they do in the BMW, I'll stick with becker piece.

I have a Denison in my Touareg, and the integration isn't as exciting as you think. With the Touareg, it is nice that I can change the song with my steering wheel, but I still need the iPod mounted in the open so I can see what song I am on. FURTHER, the software is VERY buggy. There is an option to keep the controls and display in the iPod functional, but frequently drops this selection and I have to re-program it. Sometimes, I even have to pull the fuse to the stereo to reset the ice:Link. I still like the sound quality, the steering wheel control, the charging and the attractive bracket. Hopefully, the v500 will have some of these bugs worked out. However, since I don't have steering wheel controls, I'm more intersted in the becker aux w/ an seperate attractive bracket. Oh, but does the becker charge?

And, the only display on the OEM head unit is "track 1" or "track 2". Which is worthless. No other info. And I should clarify, I'm talking about an older version in my Touareg.
