Dyno Results - 516 RWHP!

Ran 3 almost back to back runs. The car saw boost of 1.1 to 1.2 BAR.

502 HP
516 HP
508 HP

Needless to say I'm pretty happy considering my X50 only has a few upgrades!

GIAC X50 91 Octane Program
Remus Exhaust
EVO Intake (Thanks Fred!)
Speed Gallery modified wastegates

This is proof that the Remus not only sounds great but actually performs!

I'll post graphs and video later when the kids hit the sack.

Isn't that 600 crank HP? I knew my car was fast, but I didn't expect this!

The runs show great A/F and are very consistent. LAPD couldn't locate the RPM pickup point, so I have no torque figures. Given that most TTs make about he same HP/TQ, I guess that's about 500 ft/lb torque as well.

If you use a 12.5% conversion factor you are looking at 580 hp at the crank !!! Headers next ! Headers next !

The numbers look good, however it does not validate any one mod on your list. The only objective way one can state that a mod is responsible for HP or torque increases is to dyno with ONLY ONE MOD at a time. It is highly probable that your numbers could be even higher with a PSI, EuroPipe, Cargraphic or other exhaust. You might even see higher numbers with a PSI ECU flash when compared to the GIAC program.

Having campagined a race car for almost 10 years, I can definatively state that making more than one change at a time always leaves the result in questionable light.

Agreed. My prime directive today was making sure the car wasn't running too lean.

I think a part of it was that for all intents and purposes is these parts mimic the EVO Stage 3 package for the X50, sans Militek Exhaust. He just wanted to be sure that with the Remus exhaust it would be around the stage 3 claimed hp (550-560 hp at the crank). With different exhaust it could give different hp gains/losses, just validates to a certain extent that he is making the claimed hp numbers (and then some).

Good numbers.. just for a point of reference (we don't ever use the Remus) but on cars we've done here that are stage 3 and 4 we usually get about 530-540 rwhp but with a Fabspeed, MillTek or EPStage II... I actually don't believe the Remus flows as well as those but it's just a lil' more power.

Sharky, do you think the headers would get him to around/close to that 530-540 rwhp level (stage 4) ? Are the claims of 17 hp for headers reasonable ?

Just by listening to the Remus I am inclined to agree with you Sharky. I very happy with the sound at all RPMs (mostly because it's relatively unintrusive at normal operating RPM). I'm willing to live with a modest concession (if any) for that. I guess a clarification of my original point is that the Remus was the only unproven link in the equation and I feel pretty good with my choice.

At WOT on the dyno the thing seriously SCREAMS!

You're right, usually the "quieter" and less "resonance" you get with an exhaust then the worse it flows. It's a balancing game of how much flow vs resonance but power do you want? Sounds like you've got the right compromise for you!

There are a bunch of different headers (just at the shop we have EVO, Scargo, B&B, FVD, Schnell and some that I've no clue on!) so it would depend... With K24s I've seen some drop in lag and up to 22rwhp difference (on a couple of GT2s) in going from dynos on Stage III to IV....

BTW... I just looked at the dyno and whoever was doing it really didn't set up the correct airflow either. You really out to have a couple of high powered squirel fans either side of the ICs... that'd explain why your numbers could be higher
