One thing i noticed was Pagid's bedding procedure is kind of weak. I had vibration after doing it and a lot of squeal. Luckily I printed off a racing bedding procedure which suggested 90-50 stops at half brake every 400 yards with about 5-8 cycles, after that the brake were phenomenol. I feel like even though the pagids were gripping while cold, once they heat up they are much much stronger.

Like Ben I was driving pretty hard today, I realized it was the first time I have really driven the car in a month or so. I kind of remembered how prepared I was for my track event and I am really excited. My poor car is actually at the shop getting aligned right now, I miss it! I got my new driving gloves in today so I am pumped about that. Can't wait to post some pics of the event.

Hey, guys, I sent my calipers off to be powder-coated and am going to be installing new Pagids and new rotors. I don't want wind up like ttgangsta, so I'll ask my dumb questions now

Do I install the new pads in the calipers after I re-install the calipers or before?

Ben, I think I understand putting the dampeners into the "pot" and then carefully seating them against the back of the pad. Is this done while the caliper is off the car or after mounting?

Thanks for your help, and I'll take a recommendation on DOT 4 brake fluid if anyone has one.

Hey David,

Line everything up with the dampeners in each pot, peel off the paper sheet and carefully line up the back of the pad against the dampener and stick them together. Note make sure the back of the pad is spotless so you get a perfect mating surface. clean with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol (IPA) or the like. Put the pads in while the caliper is off the car or rotor then slide the pads/caliper over the rotor.

They may be very tight at the back and you may have to sand down the rear pads. Make sure the pads do not drag on the rotor, the rotor should rotate freely.

Hope that makes sense David.

Castrol SRF is what I use..it's the best fluid, not cheap but the best.

Ben,

Hey, thanks. I think I got it. But how do you "sand" a pad? Do you sand the rotor side of the pad?

David,

On a flat surface simply sand off as much material off the pad surface so the pad does not bind on the rotor. Any old sand paper will do, just make sure you take the same amount off each pad. If you have a gauge to measure the thickness then that is best way.

You may not have to do this, I did because I reused my old dampeners with new 3M double side tape that was thicker than the factory sticky stuff.

I called porsche about the whole adhesive issue and they said the adhesive on the dampeners will re-cure when the brakes heat up. Basically you can re-use your original dampeners without adding the 3M tape just fyi.

I found like any adhesive, once it has bonded the first time, the second time you try and bond it, it does not hold very well.

I tried this and found that some of the dampeners were not attached to the back of the pad even after they had heated up again. The plastic backing can also warp which makes it even more difficult for them to contact the back of the pad properly. This is what I found anyway.

Ben,

I just got my new Pagid blue pads. I noticed that the Pagids don't have a hole on the side of the pad in which to plug in the pad- wear- sensors. This is true for front and rear. Is it okay to run the car w/o the sensors? And if so, do you just clip the wire where it plugs in? Do you just tie off the sensor wire somewhere? I need some help here.

David,

That is normal, my Oranges had the cutout for the front pads but none for the rears. Just tie wrap the sensor wire in a safe place. The rears take forever to wear down anyway. If the fronts do no have a cutout do the same thing. Do not disconnect the sensor from the wiring harness or it will throw an error. Pads worn down etc I would not worry about not having the wear sensors on the pads, you will be running these pads for a while before they get down, just keep an eye on the fronts as they will wear the quickest.

All is good don't worry.

Ben, can you explain this pic?

I'll be putting my car back together as soon as I get my calipers back on Thursday. The Pagid Blue pads match the OEM pads exactly, but these front Pagids have a different design, even though the pad part matches OEM exactly. Can someone explain this? I'm a little nervous because the car is supposed to be in a Porsche show this weekend and only have a day to get everything back together.

Thx, David
