Would you tradre a 996TT for a GT3 ?
Hi Folks with 996TT
I am in between a major dilemna. I own a 2003 996TT (www.bowebpage.com) and I found a few nice 04 GT3 (silver, black, or white). The porsche is not an everyday driver, I use it for week end drive and track time. I am not tracking the car too often (about 5 times a year) and I am far from being a pro. My TT is equipped with Stage 2 giac and exhaust+intake.
I am afraid to make a bad move from switching to GT3. Are there other arguments that can convince me of getting a GT3 or to stay with my tt?
I am also concerned about resale value....
What would you do ???

i'd move into the GT3 hands down. More fun to drive...more engaging...and since it's not your daily driver, without question the more "raw" GT3 is a funner (if thats a word) machine. Also...you had mentioned resale value.....the GT3 wins hands down in that department too. Look at GT3 prices...still hover around the $80k mark and up. You can pick up an 02' 996 TT with 35k miles for $60-65k all day long. I'd make the move iinto a GT3...no question and never look back.
test drive the GT3 and see if you like it's handling over your stage 2 TQ. I was consider the GT3 before I have my TT. Drove a GT3, wonderful handling setup, it feel a lot lighter than TT and the NA engine at 8K rpm sound 100X better than TT. But after I test drove the TT, I just fall in love the massive TQ especially after stage 2. It all depends on what you want for this car.
I'm not sure if you will be happy with giving up 70% of your torque while driving around town. Personally, If I don't have a sore neck after a fun drive, I'd rather be eating glass.
the GT3 is a track tool. If you have a serious track interest and nothing else the GT3 is the way to go. Myself and others have all asked ourselves the same question. Myself and the others that went with the TT are HP junkies. the TT gives the best of all worlds as a compromise. The GT3 is a no compromise track car. Daily driving it is MUCH less fun. The TT with some basic mods to engine and suspension turned out to be the better car for me for weekends and track sessions. You MAY be disappointed the first time a good driver in a high HP TT needs to pass in the straight!!

I would go with the GT3 if you like to track the car occassionally. The GT3 is much more visceral and fun to drive versus the TT in my opinion.
However, if you are a torque junkie, I say slap on a GT700 on your current car and call it a day. Or even better, get a GT2 and put on a GT700 package. Now that would be exciting.
