Was the GT2 style wing an option for 996tt?
Was the GT2 style wing an option for 996tt?
Does anyone know if the GT2 wing was a factory option for the 996tt? I know many of you have put aftermarket wings on the turbo and they look awesome. I guess i'm wondering if its bad form to put a "GT2" wing on a non-GT2 car?

The GT2 decklid that support the wing is different than that of your 996TT. The GT2 wings are fixed and does not automatically raised. Most 996TT GT2 wings are afteramarket. They look good nevertheless.

The problem with aftermarket 'gt2' wings vs OEM GT2's is that they are not the same from an AD/engineering standpoint. The all differ in ht, angle of attack, which ain't good at the track. High speed instability will result. If you want a GT2 effect, you need a real rear wing/deck with AD matching front bumper and ride ht.
Remember when porsche offered an aerokit on a TT, it looked nothing like a GT2.

I'm going to pick it up right now. How did you like the windows? Alex had them tinted for me.
Hope we are driving soon!

I like the fixed OEM GT2 wing as well and that is what my tuner likes to install. I guess what I'm really asking is would anyone consider me a bit of a poser making my TT-X50 look like a GT2 with an OEM wing? It wasn't a factory option for my car.
Thanks

Todd,
I would change it in a heart beat. It changes your whole ownership experience, especially looking in your rear view mirror. I got my from Misha (retains the factory hydraulic mechanism) and painted by Eric from bumperplugs. The paint job is flawless by the way. On the track, up to 140, it is very stable. No one will think you are a pretender, just don't put on a GT2 emblem
