well, i think i got it closed. definitely not like before, had to press down very hard...

The cable probably needs a lube job. It probably released but did not reset fully. Try to fiddle with the clasp on the trunk latch itself and gently force it open. The hood should then close.
Sorry to see you suffer so much. It's so easy to mistakenly close the trunk or get caught with your battery down.
