What I have learned about selling a TT....
yeah when I was shopping for one, I was adamant on yellow or red.. then 6 speed, then low miles.. then CPO in that order. Amazing on other cars you would be ok with like 5 or 6 diff. color options "as long as it wasn't...."
There is a buyer for everything, you just have to be patient and do not drop your drawers. My friends always laugh when I put something up for sale and sit on it for a month or two - I do go through a lot of cars. If you have something pristine there will be a buyer, and at top dollar. I just sold my sons R32 for 32k when market was only 27k. Had to wait a little bit but it was worth the wait. The last 4 cars I sold we very similar. Placed an ebay auction but could not get within 6k of what I wanted, but sold within 2 months an traderonline.
Place an run till sold add in trader and wait. Everyone wants deals on craigslist and ebay.

I just put my 2004 996TT Cab up for sale, so we'll see how easily I can sell it.
Mine is black on black with the carbon fiber interior and steering wheel. I have most options on the car and I have added a K40 integrated radar/laser and an Evo Stage 1 upgrade. I have been told this is the most desirabe color combination and interior package. It has 17.5K miles, nearly all highway. I bought the car in CA and took a 3 week vacation with the car when I relocated back to the northeast. I racked up about 8K miles driving across the country in those 3 weeks. There is nothing like seeing Montana at 150 MPH!
Since moving to NJ last year, I have put only 4K miles on the car.
I have it advertised on a couple of Porsche sites, with the PCA, on autotrader.com, cars.com, and the NY Times Sunday print edition. I am not asking a whole lot for the car, seeing as it does have 17K+ miles on it. So hopefully it doesn't take too long to sell.

Spike just found the right guy.
I've been on the fence between a 993TT and 996TT.
I've always loved the look of the 993TT in Arena Red.
Now - IMHO - the best of both worlds, modern GT, with
nostagic (gorgeous) color.
There is a buyer for every car.

I have been looking for another car and am surprised at how much emphasis I am putting on the color, in fact I am now only looking at G-red. Hmm. My mom told me I look good in red, you know she is always right.
What??? You mean Red ISN'T the most popular color?
Uh oh.............

It drives me nuts that most 996's are silver/grey/black... I want color, and I barely got that with Midnight Blue. Hopefully one day I'll be upgrading to a TT and they should be easier to find in more colors, but looking for C4S's in White/Yellow was next to impossible. I really wish Cobalt Blue was a standard color, I would have definitely wanted that.
I'd had two Guards Red Boxsters and wanted a Speed Yellow Turbo. My salesman talked me out of it based on resale, so I ordered Arctic Silver. A month before the car came in, 9/11/01 occurred and someone had to back out of a Guards Red/Savannah and my salesperson gave me a great deal if I'd pass on my more generic AS and take the red car. I took it and it was a really great car, but I never loved the way it was optioned out- it had small CF package, large leather but base stereo. I got rid of it, but again, it was a great car.
I was gonna stay away from Porsches for awhile, just tired of them when I saw that the sales manager, who'd moved to a dealer closer to my house, had spec'ed out a Speed Yellow Turbo S that was nearly identical to what I'd originally wanted. Hmmm. . .options I wanted, updated features, more power. . .duh, I bought it.
Summarily, most people like the common colors and that's why such colors are common. However, someone will eventually be looking for just what you have, and the deal will be great- you'll get your money and someone will drive away in their dream car. Arena Red is a great color.

resale value shouldn't sway your tastes..after all its a car & your lifestyle.
