What I have learned about selling a TT....
is that color is the most important factor that people are looking for. Buyers are predominently looking for color first and miles, price and condition next in varying order. Case in point is my car that is an '02 with only 9,300 miles, absolutely pristine condition with no dents, dings or scratches, reasonably priced at $79,500 OBO. The kicker here is that it is Arena Red..... itself a former Porsche color. The graphite grey interior.....which is a popular color is fine.
Now, if it were grey, silver or black, it probably would have already sold.....or would have generated more interest. So, a word of warning to anyone ordering a new Porsche...or any other car for that matter.....order a popular color because come resale time that is what people are looking for first, the other things are less important. I've learned my lesson.......I hope.

When I was buying my car, I had an offer from a dealer for an Arctic Silver with Nephrite Green (think thats how it is spelled) interior. Saw the interior...not too hateful, and could not seem to like it enough to buy the car.
I will never buy a car in a colour that I think is more popular than the colour I actually want just for resale purposes (sp?). I'd hate myself every time I walked up to the car (or just thinking about my car for that matter) for not getting the colour I really wanted!
I agree 100%. If it appeals to you, enjoy the color you want, then worry about resale down the road. There is always a car for someone out there. Trust me someone is looking for your exact car right now. It is just a matter of time until he finds you.

Imho if the car's very good in other aspects but the color is not to your liking...Don't worry, JUST REPAINT IT!
I'm sure there are many professional paintshops that know Porsches in the States too
I doubt the resale value would go that much down the toilet after a new flawless paint...

I agree, a more "popular" color would probably have yielded a higher price and a quicker sale. Arling is right, it's just a matter of waiting for the right buyer...
good post.
there's usually a good reason why a certain color is oh so very rare... because not many people want it.
so buy it because you love it not because you want to be admired by the crowd. if so, stick with the regular staple.

I agree with Arling. I'm on my 4th Carrera, and they've all been guards red. You don't see too many 996TT in red, so it took a while to find. I did pay more than I should have, but it had all the options and the color was exactly what I wanted. If I were to sell, it may take me a little longer than silver or black.
a friend of mine has a pristine '05 ///M3 original owner 11,000 miles always garaged and regularly serviced but can't sell the car even at 47K when the similar cars in different colors are going for close to 50K.
We were just talking to a whole seller who told us the problem is the color " THE IMOLA RED " and that had it been any other color this car would have been long gone...So yes the color does matter...
I personally don't like the dull shades of red namely Coral red/Arena Red/rennaisance red and finally the Imola red,but thats just me....
