there is a special tool that you can get from the dealer to ensure your shift cables are properly adjusted. Take a look this post from Renntech.

but my conclusion from reading that post is that thier is no tool for the bnm/porsche SS.

I dunno know: I think there is a "tool"- just a matter of finding the right one. Maybe ask your local Porsche dealer which tool to use.
