So Craig are you saying the IC upgrade is not worth it?

"Moreover, for all but the highest power cars, I doubt the larger cores will make any meaningful difference (they may even be overkill for my car)"

DOC is right... mine are custom... and they are not direct replacement... close but some fab work has to be done...
guys, it take many hours and countless days to make this work right... if I had my stage 5 as I did b4.. I wouldnt even blink about the price.

Sorry for the confusion Ben. I was referring to the 4.5 inch cores that Markski and I are using. They are overkill, as compared to the 3.5 inch cores (they are not overkill in comparison to the GT2 cores). The 3.5 inch cores are NOT overkill and, IMHO, are a worthwhile upgrade.

Thank you for the time requiered to write your PM but it would be more objective if we had numbers. Intlet diameters, exhaust diameters, flow rates, etc... do you have these? I am looking for a good IC, and I could buy the cores for 600 and have them modified like yours or if EVOMS is that good I would like to buy them but as of yet all I really have is subjective opinions and little objective facts on the new EVOMS..... please help if you can.

Rob,

My post was written in response to the comments about the cost of EVOMS' new intercoolers, and the questions regarding the larger 4.5 inch cores that I am using, as compared to the 3.5 inch cores that EVOMS is using. Your request for technical data is a reasonable one, but unfortunately, I have no answers to your questions. All I can tell you is that, according to Todd, his testing of the various different end tank designs he tried resulted in dramatically different flow rates, and the end tank design he went with resulted in a considerable increase in air flow (Stephen already posted that the gain was over 40%). Apparently it is not as simple as buying a core and slapping on an end tank that looks right. According to EVOMS, subtle differences in the end tank design can have meaningful impacts on flow rate. EVOMS did the R&D necessary to make this determination. I do not have any numbers concerning these differences, nor any way to quantify my anecdotal comments.

As far as temps go, the larger cores will inherently resist heat soak better than the smaller OEM cores. Beyond this obvious platitude, I am unaware of any numbers and have no ability to quantify the differences.

Does anyone know the efficiency of the stock and GT2 intercoolers at .8bar,1.0bar,1.2bar,1.4bar? Thanks

Thanks for responding, I have so many questions it would be nice for EVOMS to answer my as well as other 6 speeders quesions. That would save them tons of phone calls and emails... which I have sent already. I do have a stage 4 and have silicone hoses... For example, would i need to change these or can i just subtract the 1500.00 from the 4 thousand.... these are just some of my questions.

Sincerely, fellow 6speeder

For those with the silicone hoses you can use the hose and do not need to buy new ones. The end clamps and piece would come off and you would use a high pressure hose clamp.

above are the flow numbers given to me by Todd from EVOMS. he was very informative with his information so I wanted to post it for fellow 6speeders. additionally, i will be buying these for my turbo and having them installed by stephen at imagine auto. you can ask me about the performance in a couple of weeks :-)

I bought the Intercoolers CRAIG used to have on his car.
I am curious, becuase these have GT2 cores and custom
end tanks. Is it the end tank design that contributes most
of the flow characteristics ??

cheers,

Marty K
