Me too and I enjoy my heated seats and my aftermarket Navigation. That was a dumb thing to say. You want a stripper buy a GT2 or GT3!

Hardly ever, do people incorporate track or lap times while comparing 2 cars "performance" wise lol!

"Ok, Im just jealous. I drove my friends 996tt the other day and could not believe how much faster it really is than my "s". I'm just trying to justify my monthlys. To this day, I love seeing tt's on the street. Peace out. no harm no foul.

Glad you liked it Mexico!!!"

I am not counting GT variants as they are rare and hard to abtain models. Martin, when you had your M3, you wouldn't consider a M3 GTR (street model) as a faster stock variant. If someone asked you what the fastest E46 M3 is you would probably say Taz's car, your car, or Jerry's car.

Here are the lap times that you mentioned, these are for the Ring:
Porsche 997 carrera S: 7:59
Porsche 996 Turbo: 7:56

The following 997 variants are not out yet, GT2, GT3RS, Turbo S.
The new turbo is out however, i have no times for that car. I am sure it wil beat the 996TT around the ring. i forgot about it when i wrote the original comment.

That is not what i meant, sorry to not be clear. In my mind a poser is someonr you just buys the car knowing nothing about it. They have just heard that a Porsche is a cool car. They call up a dealership and say "i want this car." They don't care how fast the car is or what it can do. They just want to tell people that they drive a Porsche and tell people at every possible moment. I am going to bet that there is no single member of this forums who falls under my definition as a poser.

When i was first reading this i was like what is he talking about LOL, then i realized what the original topic was and my post! 997GT3 is easily obtainable like a turbo, but i guess your right about the other's.. I see what you mean

Glad to see we can agree. Like i said, i would buy a 996TT more for what the car is than what it stands for.

I wonder how different the forum discussions were when the 996 was first produced? I bet the 993 folks were having very similar conversations about the 996.

I like to keep in mind no matter what Imay be driving, there is someone faster/better. One day I will do a write up on how all of us mega 400+hp NSX guys were flying around the track, only to be lapped by a well know pro in his rental. Yep, a humbling experience.

There definately are allot of posers in the world, be it professional, car etc...although I have had my share of cool cars, they were always for the experience, not the badge. But then again, I checked my ego at the door a long time ago.

There is absolutely no question here. My uncle has a C4S and I have an 997S. I drive his car all the time and I have to tell you that the difference is gigantic. I understand youre going for the base 997 but it is still leaps and bounds a better car than the 996. I dont care much for the bragging rights of 996tt owners. True it is faster but it is a lesser car in every other aspect. Kind of like a corvette. The 997 is one of a kind and is Porsches tour de force.
