Who flaunts "bragging" rights?
Not trying to stir the pot, but a fellow 6Speeder on the 997 board had the following comments for someone looking to decide between abase 997, 996 C4S, and a 996 TT. I certainly didn't buy my 996 TT for "bragging" rights, did you? As far as "kind of like a corvette", not sure what he means here!
There is absolutely no question here. My uncle has a C4S and I have an 997S. I drive his car all the time and I have to tell you that the difference is gigantic. I understand youre going for the base 997 but it is still leaps and bounds a better car than the 996. I dont care much for the bragging rights of 996tt owners. True it is faster but it is a lesser car in every other aspect. Kind of like a corvette. The 997 is one of a kind and is Porsches tour de force.

Other than a ruf RT12, is there even a 997 that will keep up with a 996TT. I know i have not seen one yet. I will admit thta the 997's look better though. When I got my BMW people said that i did it so I could say that I have a BMW, i bought the car for what it is, a decently priced, attractive car that handles well but is still comfortable. You buy a car to drive it, not to brag about it.
When the previous owner of my TT made it a stage 4 he didn;t change anything other than the suspension. He did not mod the car for bragging rights, It was modded to say look at my fancy Porsche. Ihave nothing against nice body kits though, i jusy dont like people trying to attract attention to their car just to show people that they have a Porsche. It was modded for the pleasure of driving it, and driven it still is to this day. That is what sets a car nut from a poser. I car nut says, i drive a little two door, the poser brags about driving a Porsche when he doesnt even know what a turbocharger is or what it is doing on his car. He just wants to say he drives a $100,000 Porsche to brag. Sorry to vent

OKay let i got the latex glove for Head removal from ***... Lets see 997S verse a 996s.. True the 997 is a better car...especially with all the new electronical gadgets... But a real driver doesnt need some heavily modified electronic road tunning suspesion and traction control unless he races for a team and makes a minimum of 7 figures a year racing just on the weekends...
As for this childs comment on a 997s vs a 996tt...THEY ARENT EVEN THE SAME CAR... its like comparing a C6 to a Z06... of course the Z06 is better... Now maybe he means looks wise...the new 997 does resemble somewhat of the old porsche look...but if thats what your going for BUY and OLDER PORSCHE... I bet this guy thinks a 959 is just OVER KILL... Well hell with it...
Thankfully i will never see this idot drive a Turbo and the fact such an idot drives a Porsche totally proves my point that Porsche owners should have a background check... Anyone that pronounces the car name wrong, asks for heated seats, cup holders, a trunk, Sat radio, Ipod connection, Blue TOOTH, or anything other than Carbon fiber or Leather... should be REJECTED...
