Key stuck in ignition
Key stuck in ignition
Sounds stupid, but my ignition key is stuck in the ignition and won't come out. It will turn counter clockwise all the way to the next to the last position but won't go any further. I tried turning the steering wheel back and forth to see if that would help, but no go.
If I start the car now, it sounds different. Like maybe the starter solinoid is still getting power when it shouldn't be?
Suggestions, besides just driving to the dealer?

same thing happened to me... u can manually turn the key to the off position... but start it and pull back the key a nudge and the noise should go away.

Thanks, guys.
Markski - I tried turning the key back just a bit once the car is running and the noise does go away, so I can at least drive the car to the dealer now.
Wross999TT - Thanks for the pointer. That sounds like the problem. That TSB is from 11/03 and my car was built before that so I'll have the dealer replace the ignition switch.

ExTex50,
This happened to me. There is a small plastic piece inside that gets broken easily. The dealer changes the whole assembley which costs you more than it should. I found out that the same product is sold for either the Audi or VW cars. Take some time to check it. If your car is till under warranty, it should be covered.
