Remote Unlock Dead - ideas?

So I'm setting up my video camera to take a clip of the new Europipe exhaust. Tripod... good. Strat recording... good. Go to unlock the car and the damn key wouldn't unlock the door! I had to use the key and set off the alarm. The light in the key still goes off when I push the button, but neither the door unlock or trunk release buttons work. Do I need to change the battery or is something else going on?

How long has it been since you started the car? I think after 5 days the unit is disabled to save the battery.

Either problem you have has happened to me. The inactive after 5-7 days is true and to prevent the alarm from going off you need to turn the key in the ignition within like 10 seconds or something. The other thing I had was where one of my keys lost it's program. It still had power with the light blinking but the car wouldn't respond. This was a trip to leave the car at the dealer b/c the fix wasn't as quick as I thought. You'll know which if the car doesn't respond and you just used it yesterday.

That happens to me. My car gets plugged into a trickle charger, so it's not the battery. You have to put the key back in the ignition to reset the computer after a couple of days. Just crank her up, she'll be fine after that.

I had the same symptoms with my TT - it's the receiver in the car. The dealer replaced it under warranty.

The key needed reprogramming and the "paperwork" will be mailed to me. Hopefully they don't charge too much for this. I need the loot for the new wheels

Thanks! I'm getting some of the new BBS Aluminum Racing Wheels. 8 1/2 & 12 x 18. I'm giddy as a school girl! It's going to take a few weeks for delivery, I can't wait!
