There has been a lot of talk about wastegate springs lately, but i'm still confused if they are necessary. I have the EVO Stage 4 upgrades, which includes wastegate calibration, but not new wastegate springs.

My car has been having some boost leak problems and the wastegates prematurely blowing off? Alex is all over it fixing the leaks and replacing some "boost control valve" (?) sorry, can't remember the name of the valve that is faulty. The car recently dynoed at 510 HP to the rear wheels. I'm hoping to get a little more when everything is fixed.

Should I have him replace the wastegate springs with some stiffer EVO springs while he's in there?

Have him replace them with the EVOMS Waste Gates. It will allow faster spool in the KKK24 Turbos and sustain the boost all teh way through the gears. Bottom line - your car will be MUCH quicker! It was te BEST upgrade for the $$$

 

I posted the wastgate question. My car currently has K16's. I just did the wastgate upgrade along with the ECU. I was blowing .6 max now I am at 1.0 or 1.1. Its really nice especially in the midrange...although it does seem to run out of steam as I rev higher. I think the K24's will take car of that problem. To answer your question I would 100% change the wastgate springs, you will notice a big differance. It should only cost about $500...worth it.

I just put the wastegate kit on my stage 4 kit and turned the wastegates to 6 turns form the end. Now I recieve 1.2 bars sustained and 1.3 on spikes. The car feels 20 hp quicker and spools smooth and strong. Enjoy the upgrade I did.

I drove a stage 4 X50 TT before and immediately after the wastegate spring upgrade and my *** dyno could tell the difference.

 

That's exactly what i'm excited about. Since I upgrade to Stg 4, I have had an unknown boost leak. I thought the car was pretty fast, but when I finally dynoed it, it was only generating 400HP to the rear wheels. That's about stock on an X50 isn't it? Anyway, now she's back up to EVO's posted numbers and I'm like a little kid on Christmas eve

 

Sounds great! What hoses are you currently running?

 

Just got off the phone with my tuner. I'm going to have him do the new wastegate springs and also a boost hose kit. Anyone have experience with the hoses? Seems like a good preventative move.

 

funny..we were thinking the same thing. I have stock hoses. Going to switch out to EVO? I'm pretty sure Alex uses EVO hoses as well. All I know is they are Red!! My favorite color

 

Slap on the GT700 kit and call it a day.
