New Wheels Arrived
hmmm.....i thought i answered the width question....in my previous post I stated that the max I would run is an 11.5, regardless of 18 or 19". Was this not what you were looking for?
To be honest, there really is no benefit to go to 11.5 - thats why the RECOMMENDED size is still 11" wide for 18 or 19 - it just seems to fit the tires better (either 295, 305, or 315). On the 11" wheels, we can guarantee no fender mods needed on TTs.
Mansour, the highest offset we can build for an 11" wide HRE wheel and still clear brembos with a 4" lip is 31. For a 3.5" lip, I can do up to 37. Evan's wheels have the 31 offset, so when the car is not lowered the wheels appear to stick out. If you dont like this look, go for the 11J+3.5 with a +37 - that is how my 542Rs are setup on my car.
Just for comparison, the TechArt formula GT 19" is a 19x11 with a 25 offset - this is too aggressive in my personal opinion. It is almost required that you roll fenders with this setup.

Thanks Peter/Greg, that's exactly the information what I was looking for. Now, being that most of the extra 1" of width goes on the inside, what are your thoughts in terms of added stress on hub/wheel-bearing assembly (great moment acting on hub)?
Thanks,
Stephen

whoops, you must have been reading my last post as I was typing the latest one!

Anyhow, we have not seen any issues with added stress on the hub - the 996 GT2 has the same rear mounting hub as the 996 turbo, and it is delivered from the factory with 18x12" wheels with 315/30/18 tires. If they can do it, we certainly can also

OK Steve...here's an answer.....given all the variables discussed.
On a turbo, 30mm offset rear, 42mm front is 'do-able' with a lowered car, relatively stiff suspension, some fender prep, 11J / 8.5J rims mounted with 315/25-19 and 235/35-19.
As Lee said........going to 12Js (which I guess I would not do) pushes the rear offset to high 30s.

Gregg, do you have more pictures of your car. I haven't seen any pics with the new wheels on it.

........I should have my new site up shortly DrivingFanatic.com (it's been a project
).......and it has lots of cool pics (this and the other cars).
Pretty sick..........well I fully appreciate they are not everyone's cup-of-tea.
They were, however, exactly what I was after.
My site has short files of the cars moving.... and I'm (admittedly) nuts about wheels looking good 'rolling' at say parking lot speed and above......screw sitting still.
Flashy spokes (IMHO) draw attention away from the total package, and detract too much from a cars good lines & affect....especially when they're rolling (yep I'm certifiable).
Anyway, maybe take my word for it, this car looks pretty good rolling along

Probably correct Simon.
The rims are brushed (not polished) and then cleared. Centers are custom painted & also cleared (locally here).....and are quite a bit darker than the AS car (pic not really doing justice). Hub centers are metal Porsche, painted to match. All assembled here.
It's been said before (but perhaps not enough, so I'll share)....mounting 19" rubber on an R rim like this is a 'sun-of-a-gun'. Requires talent, patience, more time$$, (and also throwing the wheel on the mounting machine upside down)

Gregg,
I thought they were standard silver or custom light charcol! Like Peter said, can you post some hi-res picture! I really want to see up close since I never seen 544R brushed before (oops, I meant not on a porsche before)
