Passport SRX install location advice

Just got a smokin' deal on the Passport SRX (with shifters) and want ideas on where to locate in the cabin. Possibly where the cup holder is (riad's), could I take a couple of the cd holders out? The whold CD holder? Any ideas appreciated. TIA! (will post on Rennlist as well if that's OK).

I mounted mine in the center vent, just below the radio. I cut a slit in the vent cover and dash. They are about the same width.

ColorChange is infamous around these parts
I put mine sxactly where you say, in the bottom 2 cd slots. This way, when an officer pulls you over, you can slide out the top cd slot and cover the unit. Otherwise, it's within easy reach.

That is what I was thinking about...I haven't pulled that out yet, but it sounds like it's possible to separate/remove them. How difficult was that? Thanks much!

I can't remember for sure. I think there were two clips on either side near the back of the slides. If you pop one out, I think you can see them at the bottom of each tray.

I have it installed on the batwing. Move the seat heater switches to the center console if needed.

Thanks much Tim!

I don't want to replace the batwing as mine is CF (that is an ideal spot though!)

Just remove the CF batwing and modify a black standard one for the unit. Then if you sell the car, you can put the CF back in or just give it to the new owner. I have full CF interior and did this. The plain batwing is not noticeable and does not detract at all.
