he doesn't have to be a cop to do that. anyone wants to set u guys up can easily do the same thing. it's not the point of what kinda tickets cops wanted to write. the point was they were ON u all.

Sure, tell that to the 100 or so people who were all at the canyon that day getting hosed. I am sure the cops had ALL the time in the world to post on the p-car boards, biker boards and who knows the others who were there just trying to give out tickets. Nice conspiracy theory, a little flawed IMO, but a good one nonetheless

In my case, my flat turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Great news-no more quotas, we can write as many as we want. I may be way out on a ledge with this one, but I try and stay AWAY from situations where I know there is going to be a huge police presence- especially CHP officers whose main job is to write tickets, DUH

I have no idea why the organizer didn't show... Maybe he got pulled over on the way out???

I hope that it was a cop 'setting us up'...as he'd at least be wasting time online rather than out writing more BS hassle tickets!

I agree with you for the most part. I no longer ride my bikes at Angeles Crest Highway b/c the cops are swarming EVERY weekend...there's no such thing as a day off out there! Malibu, however, is typically different. Believe it or not, I've never seen a Chippie on the road that we were on and I ride there regularly and have for over 10 years... We happened to run into a guy who wanted to hassle us,...**** happens.

However, I refuse to sit at home and not enjoy my car or bikes and my free time just b/c there is a chance that I might get hassled by the CHP. If I did that all the time, I'd never leave the house!

This whole scenario and all of this discussion just seems kind of funny to me... I guess that I'm too used to this type of thing happening b/c I hear about it all the time being an avid motorcyclist!

I'm sorry to say this, but as a local resident of the area for many years, this event did not seem well organized or thought out.

You should have started much earlier in the morning, and kept the event much more low key in light of Operation Safe Canyons.

Obviously, you guys were rookies in planning out a Malibu canyon run. Live and learn I guess.

I have to agree with Tyson here. Back in the day when I was doing Sat morning canyon runs on a regular basis, we started at 7 am, and we were eating breakfast by 9 am when the throngs of people began hitting the roads.

I agree with you, my 7am starts were always cool and without any incidents. After a casual run through the canyons, 9am breakfast tastes the best

I'm not sure it's such a conspiracy theory...a little odd that we haven't heard word one from the guy since....If they were going to be out in force this weekend nothing like drumming up a little more business

Ah well...I got off cheap with a fix it ticket...Today I wasn't so lucky......

Just dropped the car off for coilovers

How did you resolve it with his boss or know that his boss was pissed? You have friends high up in law enforcement?

Joe, that's an interesting theory. Wow, I hope you're wrong on that one, but I have to admit that is kinda odd. If this somehow was proven in court, imagine all the tickets they'd have to throw out due to entrapment. If they went on a bunch of boards and did that and it was proven, someone would be seeing some MAJOR jail time and losing their job. Ofcourse it kind of sounds like something Karl Rove might due if he were a cop!
