Stock spoiler ?

My stock spoiler goes up and down when I do it with the botton. But after I go over a certain speed (the speed it is set to go up), it will not come down by itself when I stop and the spoiler failure light comes on. The spoiler seems to only work manually. Any ideas on why it will not come down by itself ? It is been a month or so since I have been keeping it up for looks. Before then I never really touched it. thanks for any help before I bring it in.

I had the same problem on my car a while back. I took it to the dealer (car is under CPO limited warranty), and they told me they checked everything from the spoiler motor to the gauge cluster and the connections in between, and traced the problem to the gauge cluster, which they replaced under warranty. The spoiler would go up at speed, but the failure light would come on at 35 mph (I think?) and I would have to manually lower it -- when I turned off the car and restarted it, the failure light went away until the next time. Since the new gauge cluster, all has been well with the spoiler control.
