This is what Hamman7 Have to Deal With

There is a fine line between pride of ownership and arrogance. Be proud . . . don't be arrogant.

Ps. I am sitting on a plane about to take off for a 6 hour flight.

I don't call his Kleemann SLK a ****box now, do I?
Just like I bow down to those who have Carrera GTs, GT1's, or even Italian stuff like Enzo, Zonda S, etc... every real supercar (I don't like the SLR though because it is NOT a supercar)... a great car is a great car... clearly, there is a hierarchy in this world, and I do respect it. I even like the EVO, but that too is a very fast, well-handling jap econo ****box. The interior still feels like a rental car from Ontario airport.
Just calling it as I see it. Just like my GT2 is a really fast VW Bug/Boxster S and pales in comparison to the technology in a Carrera GT. It may well be faster than a CGT after mods, but it will never be a Carrera GT. And that is the point.

I completely agree that there is a hierachy in terms of the quality and performance of sports cars, and that certain cars are inherently superior to others. My point is simply that it serves no beneficial purpose to tell someone who drives a car lower down on the food chain that his car is a "****box" (even if it is true); particularly when the owner poored his heart and soul into modifying his car. You have a wealth of knowledge and experience. Don't diminish your informative message with unnecessary name calling and disparagement. Instead, stick with the facts . . . . the facts are where your message resonates the strongest.

Craig...you are just too right on. Good advice and, as usual, a cool level head. I don't wander to those "other sites" they scare me! I like all cars so it's no big deal to me...if I had enough $ I'd own them all!

Great posts Craig, both of them.
The name calling and explicit bias to a brand with no objectivity to back it up or willingness to carry on a logical discussion with someone who is clearly knowledgable about his marque's history makes the respective PCar owners look ...well...silly.
Just because you volunteer your admiration or that you "wouldn't mind owning" the pinnacle model of a few other car manufacturers doesn't mean that you've got an open mind. It means that you're an elitist who doesn't mind diversifying.
And yes, I know I'm a newbie here but I also think it's valuable to enlighten people to the way that they come across on the internet from someone who doesn't know anything about them.

Craig's posts are pretty much great all of the time, so we're used to them.

try being a little more open minded and try not calling every japanese modded vehicle a "jap econo ****box".
elitists like yourself are interesting & entertaining.
Maybe not my place to comment but I have a very different perspective on this matter. Being German I love the Pcar but I am also proud of the Wankel innovation. That a jap company picked it up and ran with it is irrelevant. They won LeMans with it and who ever heard this 4 rotor engine would fall in love with it, I guarantee that. The 3rd gen rx7 is a great performer. I see many threats where raw power is essential and introducing a lesser driving machine has been condemned. That is what the rx7 is all about. It is a true drivers car. In particular the light weight build is very impressive. Every time I like to replace an oem part for an aftermarket one I realize how great of a job Mazda actually did designing it. I couldn't take the seven across the country but for some fun time in the twisties and a track day it is just the ticket.
my 2 cents and thanks for listening

I have both... a highly modded evo 8 and a highly modded P car...
... and I'm having alot of fun with both cars...
Anyone that lives in Chicago and wants to see an Evo beat up on Audis, BMW's, and even Pcars... Go to Blackhawk roard course this weekend and look for the black evo 8. It came second to a Porsche Supercup car on slicks and even beat him in the traps with over a 7 mph difference... no joke. It all went down this past weekend...

Geez, so I don't have an open mind and I'm an elitist. Wow, that was enlightening
Thanks for the epiphany!
Nothing wrong with being elitist sometimes, that's why we work a little harder and make a little more so that we can afford to be. The same reason one buys a Global Express jet or sends his kids to Philips Andover or an Ivy League college or drinks a Grand Cru Bordeaux from a great vintage.
When my friends who have CGTs say that it makes every other car feel like a piece of ****, including my 911's, do I go disparage a CGT and try to claim that a 911 is better in every way? Hell no, because it isn't true. Having spent some time around and in a CGT, yes, it is a superior car and I admit it... and it does make most every other car seem pointless and ****ty.
I don't disparage other makes or cars until the idiot owner starts touting how it is superior to my car or brand, when it clearly isn't. The RX-7 owner in the thread clearly started making the comparison between RX-7 and 911, which I find to be pretty amusing but ludicrous nonetheless. Next thing you know the Honda boys will start comparing Civics to Carrera GTs.
The difference in all this, for instance, is that I have an E55, and I am the first to call it a Chrysler AMG ****box and trash on Mercedes all day long. My car ain't econo ****box, but it's a ****box nonetheless. Like I said, I just call it like I see it.

Arguments are not a bad thing if engaged by two or more intelligent people. I argue with my friends all the time about cars, I don't see anything wrong with that.
