Newbie Question

I just bought an 02 Turbo. Love it! Looking to put in a short shifter. Any reccommendations on which brand and where i can purchase one at a good price? Also looking to put on 19" wheels. Probably black centers, because my car is black. Any advice there on brands and type? More concerned with strength of the wheel and weight, than bling. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. DK

OEM Porsche Short shifter (made by B&M)....a little more pricey or

Welcome aboard. Congrats..please post the obligatory pics so we can drool appropriately. B&M SSK is great. I'm confused about why 19" if you don't want bling...the car was designed performance wise for 18" (not saying 19" don't work BTW) so for weight and performance I would suggest 18s...I suggest a search!

depnds on what feel you want from the shifter.. there is pbasiclaly 3 types..

1.) b&m in car shifter - u change the actual shifter in your car, throw can be reduced from 20-40% i belive (correct me if i am wrong) but it will make the shift notchy.

2.)B&m under car shifter - they add an adjustment linkage in the bottom of the car near the transmission.. theyit reduces up to 30-35% i belive... shift engagement willbe the same as stock... (ruf, techart etc makes the same style shift kit)

there have been cases that soem dealers will not warranty tranny work on your car if you have these after market parts...

3.) Porsche short shift kit (Imo is the best) - it is an in car shifter which replaces your whole shifter assembly including the large plastic shifter carrier. throw is decreased up tp 35% i believe. porche will warranty your car bec it is a factory part... but it is a bit pricey. (from what i have heard a piece of the factory shift kit is actually made by b&m)

brandywine at times have good deals on the factory shifter..

i personally have the in car shifter but if give the chance i will buy the porsch in car shifter. i bought the b&m before i knew about the porsche short shift kit...
