How cool is this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So that is what you look like Watt.

OK East Coasters, what are our chances of initiating an event of our own out here? I propose we join together and try and set a meeting with a local government official in western PA (Nearest wide open space). Any takers? Our only chance is to join together.

Racer 63,

check out the site openroadracing.com and come over to the rennlist "elko" thread and speak to roland [ruf-racer]. or email me: watt@oakwoodcap.com

if you have a fuel cell roll cage, fire system you can run up to 150 target speed, 165 max i believe your first race, then up to 250! if you can?

i'm running Elko w/o a Navigator for fun. if you really want to win, you would be better off with one. come check out, we'll get you situtated comfortably and make you welcome

they laughed as i painted my car

with latex. but got home after 600 miles in the mid-100's and peeled the latex off hammered with bugs and grasshoppers and the paint is PERFECT underneath.

so you can easily protect your paint and come do this...

Will check it out.

Hmmm. Have the cage and fire system. But, the cell is optional in SCCA T2. So, haven't done it.

I wouldn't expect to win the first time out. Open road racing would be completely different. I generally learn a track quickly due to prior auto-x experience. But, still, I think I'd begin with humble expectations and a navigator (for safety).

So, will you welcome me even if I bring the Bimmer rather than the EVO Stage 4GT? I'm not willing to put a cage in my street car (the 996) for one race. But, the Bimmer is race prepped and ready to go.

Yours in speed!

Watt -

Looks like I'm good for the GS1 category. The fuel cell is optional. All other requirede equipment I have.

So, where the heck is Elko? If it is close enough to Vegas (or some other gambling mecca), I'm sure I can get a crew to come and assist.

well racer 63,

you've found the rules so you can dial in your class. i ran gt2 or 120/140 my first race and plan on running gs3 this time. you can run 165 w/o the cell after this one i think...

Elko is a beautiful town in NE NV, check the map. i think you will use the 93 to get there, another road we race on, but i dont know where in AZ you are. there is plenty of gambling, and ***** houses if you are so inclined. also art museums and beautiful hiking.

bring the bmw as it's set for racing and therefore safer. or run 124 max in the street car. Roland ran in the 160's in his M5 and tyson is bringing his m5 probably running 120. there are people in rental cars running 100 just for fun, the car is just part of the amusement.....

Rental cars... I've done that for DEs.

Kind of like Days of Thunder all over again!

Question

I'm thinking about doing this event. The problem is...I have no idea what speed category to enter. Any advice? My car is pretty stock but I plan on having 6 point harnesses in it by then. What percentage is straightaway versus curves? I wouldn't call myself an expert driver but I have a few driving events with various cars under my belt.
