CJV You are so right! I tried modding my Lambo, $45k and 40-50 hp later, it still hurts.

Care to be a bit more specific. Nothing against a Lambo. I use to have one years ago. They are very nice looking, but power wise, the new ones a somewhat akind to a heavy boat.

Well my SV is lighter than a 996TT, with alot more power. The Murcielago is heavier than a 996TT, but it has quite abit more power to overcome the weight disadvantage. Gallardo weighs about the same as a 996TT, with more power also.

Road & Track tested both the X50 and Murci for 0-100mph-0 in 2003, X50 won. It also beat the new Viper and Saleen S7 (the S7 has lousy brake) in the same contest. I guess the X50 do better in acceleration than what its power to weight ratio predicts.

As for mods to the Countach, on my 87 Qv, i ripped the exhaust and cats out, along with all the smog equipment. Then i had a custom exhaust with no cats fabricated. Then i replaced the ignition system with a distributorless Electromotive unit. Next the Bosch Cis injection came out, replaced with a Electromotive tech 2 Electronic fuel injection system. Never dynoed the car, but the difference in power was absolutely night and day. Id say right around 100hp for less than 10,000. Then on the Lambos people change cams, headers make big power gains, port the heads, extrude hone the intake, larger throttle bodies. Of course, not as easy as a turbo charged car, but still things you can do. not to mention Nitrous like i run on my cars.
Has anyone seen the 1200Rear wheel hp Diablo?

The point is, you are not going to get much more power out of either of the above mentioned cars. On the other hand, the 996tt can be modified easily. There are many 996tt turners available and pricing is competitive. Do you really believe a street legal lambo would stand a chance against some of the faster modified 996tt's on this board. If so depending on where you are located in the US, I'm sure we could arrange a little contest. Heck we have some slightly modified 996tt's in Northern and Southern California, Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Flordia that would probably be available.
