How bad did they botch the launch. It sounded pretty bad, and he still ran an 11.7 ! Especially with the GT2 running a 12.7...either the driver was at fault, or the traction (which it sounds like) was hot and lacked traction.

A little of both.
Don't lose sight of the fact the ambient temperature was 100+ degrees with a track temperature of 135 degrees. There was also a head wind that had a large flag fully horizontally extended. What Dave did fail to mention is the fully modified, non street legal strip cars with slicks TTD was only two tenths of a second faster.
