New Cadillac CTS-V
First off I own a Cadillac dealership. The XLR is not overpriced. We have a full years allocation sold at over MSRP. It is $20000 less than a same equipped SL500 and out performs the SL as well.
I am getting the fist CTS-V in about two weeks. The car is amazing to drive. Very different than the European stuff. Big power and sounds really good, unlike an M3. Best bang for the buck out there.

I like the XLR, but I'd still pay the extra $20k for an SL. The SL is the most beautiful car inside and out on the road today (non-sports car) IMO. Most people are aren't buying either one for performance... that's down the list of reasons why. Style, image, and comfort are the top 3 for the buyers of these cars.
For Caddy, the problem is styel: it's polarizing... love or hate, image: we've hit it already... old people, and comfort they're probably neck and neck, but the Mercedes has no problems with either of the other 2 reasons.
Seriously, a years' worth? How many is that? That's excellent for the dealers!

Come on.........
My mom has an sl500 and the cadillac xlr wasn't even considered as an alternative. Maybe the xlr has a bit more punch, but neither of these cars are fast and the buyers don't care about racing. The sl looks better, has a better interior, many technological gadgets, and is a flashier car. Who would pay 80k for a cadillac?
Scott:
On the XLR's we were given 20 for the first year. All sold. (they only hand build 28 a week). Far more exclusive than SL IMO.
Shank:
About $20,000, If I like you maybe a little more.
Sticky:
The person who pays $76,200 for a Cadillac might just be the person who pays $75,000 for a VW Touareg (I'm sorry I meant Cayenne S)

My post seems to have disappeared. I don’t understand why mags decide to compare the CTS V to the M3&M5, the M5 is a much bigger car. The CTS is a direct competitor to the S4, M3, and C32. All of these cars have nearly the same performance numbers and are all closely priced. Personally I think Cadillac has a far way to go on quality, especially the interior. I have also seen the CTS racecar testing at Gingerman, it made lots of noise and was unimpressive. However, bang for the buck you can’t beat it, just like the Z06. I guess you have to decide how much better quality is worth to you, based on that I would take any(M3, C32, S4)before dropping a penny on the CTS. Atleast Cadillac is trying.
