hmm... this surprised me. i don't pretend to be an expert on this, but i'm pretty sure that this is not true, though it is a tidbit of (mid)information that has been circulating for some time.

there are definitely converted Skylines out there. some are crap, some are really nice. check out my friend's skyline here:

http://www.turboawd.com.ph/skylinegtr.html

it has a custom carbon fiber dashboard trimmed in connelly leather, and just about every top level go-fast skyline goody that money can buy. and then there's the small matter of over 850HP at the wheels...

the owner is a 6speeder too by the way, with a 997TT on order.

but i'm not aware of any official factory-produced LHD skylines that were ever built. I'm happy to be proven wrong though... (mainly because it means that I could hope to acquire one of these one day! )

cheers!

well since i can say i know more about GTR's then anyone on this board few words for thought... Skylines were NEVER made LHD... the conversion costs over 20k just to do it alone...

Also the R32, 33, 34 all share the same motor... minor differences between them all.. but the 32 and the 34 are the ones to own.. The R32 is the lightest of them all... All 3 push about 280 stock...but with intake, exhaust and a boost controller your at about 400hp or so... with minor mods on top of that you can push 6-700hp with out a problem.... Also at 900hp the car runs the quarter in the low 10 to high 9's... depending on driver..

BEST DAM CAR PERIOD...lol... next to my porsche hehe

sounds like a beast... pics please!

Zippy, would you know what kind of Skyline it was? R32, R33 or R34? Of course, for those not familiar with Skylines, telling them apart is almost as difficult as spotting the differences between a 993, 996 and 997, for those who aren't really into P-cars!

If it was Canadian registered it can only be an R32 as we are only allowed to import Japanese cars that are over 15 years in age.

Sure the hell is but ever blown motor gets me a Better motor...now they really isnt a SINGLE interal or external mod i can do under the hood but put in an entirely different motor from a totally different car...

Its been stroked out, full head work has been done to the little girl and the turbo...well its CUSTOM..

All i can say is that prior to 3 grand your like "whatever " then about 3500 kicks in and your SCREAMING HOLLY MOTHER OF GOD... While you pass things so dam quick you realize the speedo is moving just as fast as the tach... HEHE

Well, being a local lurker, from the same town as Zippy, I thought I'd post some info on the skylines:

In Canada we can import basically any car we want from overseas, provided that it's at least 15 years old. While there were some importers trying to a make a buck on euro cars, importing wasn't really popular. That is, until the Skylines became eligeble. This happened in the last 1-2 years, and has resulted in hundreds if not thousands of JDM cars being brought over by import car entrepeneurs. Often the buy the cars online at auction in japan, have an associate there who does the papers, and they have the cars shipped. All that is required for them to have the cars registered is the correct paper work, and out of province inspection. So far Nissan Skylines and Silvia's are by far the most popular. Most of the Skylines coming in are GTS models, nothing special. There are some GTR's, but they are much more money.

Most of the cars are being purchased by younger guys who want a performance car, something that is cool, and don't have much money (ie can't afford to maintain or fix).

GTS skylines (2wd, I6 turbo) are typically $8-15k, and GTR's are $15-30k, depending on condition. Did I say condition?? Yeah, most of the cars are in aweful condition and require thousands of dollars of work to be even worth owning IMO.

As such, I'm not a fan of the cars, but have seen some really crazy stuff that I liked. Lots of guys are buying old GTR's that have tonnes of mods and are ex race cars. I guess it's kind of hit and miss, as to if you get a solid car or not. One of my friends bought a GTS skyline with a roll cage, and it turned out to be a 440 hp beast with engine and suspension work. He also bought an old RX-7 that was in very good condition and pulled 450whp right off the boat. He also bought some cars that he was unable to sell without loosing money. It is really a crapshoot.

In case you want to see what kind of cars are out there, check out this link (all "skyline" threads in the market place of a local forum):

Oh, and Zippy, you would have encounterd an R32 (earlier generation) of skyline, since that is all you can import right now... And btw... nice car

Edit: here is a link to one of the more reputable importers. They typically make you front a 50% deposit, and you pick the car that you want from auction (you are on the hook to buy the car)
