If I am not misteaken, I think anyone with Techno Wheels has spacers too.

So what we are saying is that it isn't goofy to add spacers to a 996TT with stock turbo wheels?

I have ones custom made by Rob King at Scargo. His fabricator can make any size. They work with the hubcentric design.

Hi. Some readers may not know this: Spacers are a hack to solve a
clearance problem from incorrectly-backspaced wheels, or for a purely
cosmetic reason. The ideal (but expensive) solution is to get the same
wheels you want, but with the center that much closer to the hub.
Spacers make for another failure path. Racers avoid them if at all
possible, and if necessary, the safer ones are the ones that bolt onto
the hub, and then use separate bolts to hold the wheel. The cheaper
ones that just use longer lug nuts allow for some relative motion of the
spacer and hub, and spacer and wheel, and put the lug nut into double
shear and flex if the spacer hole is not a press-fit for the lug nut.
If you're not really racing, it may not matter as much, but I wouldn't
run them.
Joe Weinstein

PS: I know that Porsche itself offers spacers. I will just go my own
cranky way with my opinion unless someone can tell me about
Porsche ever racing with spacers...
