996tt-Is this the last tuner friendly turbo?
What do you guys mean?? I'm with ECB... Our ECU Level 1 tuning is in its final stages of testing as well on the 997TT. The program is done, just doing some final testing and its good to go... Numbers I am hearing from Germany are 50HP+ with ECU.

So outside of changing he exhausts and exhaust cam what is there? The cams and intercoolers really aren't a very good bang for the buck mod. I don't see any alternative turbo's. The ECU tuning just doesn't seem to be there with the turbo's. And the handling department mods really appear to be a can a worms.
Does anyone believe a tuned 997tt can hold a candle to a tuned 996tt?

Time will tell, but I think time will prove the 997TT in some time is going to be a beast.

Agreed.
However, I will stick to my air cooled cars

You really think guys like Stephen, Evo, etc are just going to not spend anytime on these 997TT's?

My opinion is the 997tt will make some progress, however the progress will no where approach what was done with the 996tt and the progress will come at an extreme price (cost).
Another thing to consider is units sold, despite many complaining about all the 996tt's that were sold, the fact remains had the car not attained it's popularity status, only a fraction would have been sold. The popularity is what helped develop products due to the fact there was a large market and the profit potential was there.
We will see how tuner friendly the 997tt becomes. I wouldn't hold my breath.

With the information Kevin has provided I don't believe the 997tt really has much of a future other than as a gentleman's sports car. Something like the Aston Martin.

993 to 996 was a huge drastic change. 996 to 997 not really. Just enjoy your 650HP+ car and call it a day. Some people always have to have the "newest." We all know the newest isn't always the best choice!
