If you're referring to my answer about high 70's to low 80's - that's exactly what price range I was looking to pay for an 03 x50 with decent miles...This was my scale when I was searching last month:

2001 - low to mid 60's (miles under 30k); clean condition; relatively stock
2002 - high 60's to mid 70's depending on miles and options that I cared about.

2002 x50 - mid 70's to high 70's depending on options (almost made a deal on an 02 x50 with factory aerokit with 11k miles at $79k, but something I didn't like on PPI prevented that deal from closing)

2003 - low to high 70's depending on options

2003 x50 - high 70's to low 80's (less than 12k miles).

Now those were my PERSONAL guidelines and I'm sure others have their own but when I buy a used car, I put a lot of value in WHO I buy the car from and I am willing to pay a bit of a premium for that. For those that don't care (I preferred a 1-owner car, with 2 previous owners max, for example, and avoided any car that was owned by the current owner less than a year), I'm sure you can use the Mannheim auction prices and get a car at a dramatically lower price than the guidelines I used above.

I'm sure the prices will continue to come down a little bit over the next few months, but these are used cars...and timing plays a very important role in what ends up happening.

Those numbers sound very reasonable. I was in the market for an X50 and that is a very good ballpark. I think that one thing you need to consider is buying one that is still under the original warranty, as you can purchase an extended warranty for a much better price if the original warranty is still in effect, thus you will prob go for an 03 if that is a consideration. Look for one with some of the mods that you want to do ( rims, body kit, etc ... ) you will end up way ahead if you do it this way.

I ended up with an 05 Turbo S, just couldn't pass up that car when I saw it. You will love the X50 when you get it.

With the used car market, sometimes, it's hard to find exactly what you want - so when something good comes up, a decision will have to be made depending on how important those features are .
