Fair price on this car

I have been a long time lurker and finally think it is time to move from the M3 to the Turbo (like many here). I am looking for 02-04 Turbos with low miles(less than 15k). I will mod the car but would like to not have to swap turbos so I am looking to go for an X50, especially now that they are only slightly more money.
Any thoughts in general on this car and thoughts on a fair price would be appreciated.

In general I am looking for the following

Musts
White, Silver, Black or Gray exterior
Black interior
Heated Seats
No supple leather
Low miles(less than 15k) ideally

Wants
CPO
Sport Seats
x50
Carbon wheel and interior
Mods

I have looked at Dan's car in Chicago and am watching that auction. That one is a definite possibility. Thanks for any help

I am new to Porsche and just picked up an 02 with the X50 7,911 miles, stock, with the tip for $73,000.00. Iam not sure it's a great deal but I really enjoy the car. I would do it agin. Good luck.

If i were you i'd look for a full CF package. I think the 996 interior looks extremely dated without it now, it simply has too much plastic and i love the cf porsche use.

Good luck buying, i am constantly checking ebay. I feel that anywhere between 60-75k is fine if it is loaded with options and miles under 15,000, but that's just me.

For an 2003 x50 with low miles, I'd say high 70's to low 80's is probably a fair price...or at least what I'd pay right now. As with anything, it is hard to compare used cars and also depends on how long you plan on keeping the car.

I think that was a great deal considering the miles!

cool yellow turbo. Like I said I wasn't sure if it was a great deal or not but the more I drive the car the more I like it. Now let the mods begin.

Andrew, that's a very nice car. I wouldn't nit-pick the price too much. I'd pay high 70's for it.

They are still a few k above what is fair. I know a lot of people said the x50 is not worth it but I really don't want to change turbos. Am I correct that the k24s with headers, intake, exhaust, diverters, wastegate adjustment and tuning are good for 550-600hp on 91?

Yes. There is some debate about whether headers are of any value.

I was planning to do the DIY porting just primarily to increase spoolup? We are talking crank power (550-600) not rwhp right?

Some 2003 x50's have sold for about $90k from a dealership (I know of one specific instance since I looked at the car). If you can get the car and it is what you want for high 70's-low 80's you'll be just fine.

In terms of HP, depending on what you are coming from, you'll have more than enough headroom for HP...of course, if you hang out around here, there will always be this notion that 600HP is not enough
